Catahoula/ Blue Heeler mix
Bentley is a bright-eyed boy who loves to be by his humans, but he isn’t afraid to explore on his own. He doesn’t chew on things he isn’t supposed to. He will entertain himself with toys. Stuffed animals will last for a bit, but he likes to rip holes and pull stuffing out. He loves to wrestle with his current foster sister. We are working on manners with other dogs. Bentley is really excited to meet new friends, and he isn’t aggressive towards other dogs when he meets them.
Leash walking is still a work in progress! Bentley likes to turn back to make sure you’re still there. He comes back, sniffs, and then heads back out to the end of the leash. He’s getting much better and more confident. When he walks with another dog he follows their lead really well. He has a lot of energy so multiple walks a day are a good thing for him. He will lay down and nap for short periods. He doesn’t try to bolt through doors, but he will try to be the first out if you let him.
Bentley goes into his kennel willingly. He doesn’t howl or whine unless he’s ready to come out. He has been in there for 4-5 hours without accident. Potty training is a process, but it has been going really well. With a stable home and plenty of time outside he will be completely trained in no time.
You’re probably thinking that a deaf dog isn’t for you. Here is one really great reason to have a deaf dog. You just got home with a car load of groceries. Bentley is sound asleep in his kennel, and you want to get those groceries put away before letting him out. He won’t wake up when you walk in the door. You can unpack the groceries and get ready to let him out. Also, just because he can’t hear your praises doesn’t mean he won’t love on you.
Bentley has become a whole new pup in the short amount of time he's been in our home. It has been really great to watch him grow as a confident boy and continue to learn healthy pack behaviors.
Bentley is neutered, microchipped & vaccinated. If you are interested in learning more about him, or applying for his adoption, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
